In recent times when I have been going through some dark and difficult times coming to terms with my youngest, Ira's, trans journey, Cal so generously offered many times to talk to me and help me find a way through. They were so generous with their time and so warm in their dialogue with me that I felt soothed just speaking to them. But more than that, they said so many perceptive and helpful things that made me reflect and see things differently. Talking to Cal was like talking to someone much older than their years and they had such warmth that it was enormously calming. They said so many things that made so much sense that it really helped me in a way that is quite difficult to describe. 

i know they did a great many phone calls like that and I can only imagine how many, many people they will have helped. I will always be grateful and the things they said to me will stay with me to the end of my life.
